Rise St. James is a faith-based grassroots organization that is fighting for environmental justice as it works to defeat the proliferation of petrochemical industries in Louisiana. While RISE does not currently have many in-person events in New Orleans, we are open to planning an event as part of a service project.
Students will assist RISE staff with complex and interesting projects ranging from: scientific studies on air, water and soil; community organizing and event planning; social media campaigns; direct advocacy with environmental agencies; and legal/policy research.
Service learners will learn Grassroots environmental organizing and working in diverse coalitions.

Remote opportunities available: RISE is a hybrid organization with both in-person events throughout the River Parishes (primarily Ascension, St. James, St. John). Depending on your schedule and interests, we can develop either in-person or remote opportunities for you.
