Recirculating Farms offers an experiential opportunity to understand the intersections between ecology, urban agriculture, environmental stewardship, and social justice.  Practicing organic, permaculture, and regenerative agriculture means recognizing that our farm is part of a larger ecosystem; and while these practices may be seen as “novel” or “innovative”, they are in fact historical practices that have been practiced by indigenous communities for centuries. These growing practices work with our natural cycles to promote environmental sustainability and produce healthy food. Our food and our space in turn supports the neighborhood and community around our garden. The Central City neighborhood has experienced decades of institutional disinvestment resulting in, among other things, a lack of access to healthy, culturally relevant produce.
