Hope Ignites New Orleans (formerly Boys Hope Girls Hope) is a Jesuit-founded academic driven children's home organization that serves academically promising and motivated youth in need by providing year-round residence, college-educated staff, access to private, college-preparatory education and the opportunity to pursue their dream of attending and graduating college.
Service learning students will serve as tutors for the scholars living in our two homes. In addition to tutoring, you act as a role models by providing guidance in things like time management and study skills for our scholars. We are a family-like environment therefore, service-learning students become part of our team to assure our students thrive academically and prepare themselves for college and life.
Students learn they can positively impact a child's future by being a role model for youth looking to pursue a college education and participate in the process of preparing students in their adolescent and teenage years. Students also learn, much like themselves a few years earlier, succeeding in school is more than just homework and test taking. It's organization, time management, academic discipline, and self-motivation. Service learners assist in moving our students through such processes and developing such traits.
