The Edible Schoolyard New Orleans' mission is to teach children to make healthy connections through food and the natural world. We envision generations of New Orleans children who have healthy relationships to food, the natural world, themselves, and their community. We do this with comprehensive food education that integrates hands-on organic gardening and seasonal cooking into the school curriculum and community.
Assist in one of our four school gardens with weeding, watering, harvesting, amending beds, and other duties, or assist in one of our teaching kitchens with food prep, washing dishes and cleaning duties.
Students will learn the basics of gardening: how to plant and care for plants and animals, or the basics of cooking in our kitchens.
