Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans Refugee Services
provides a wide range of social, education, and legal services to refugees and immigrants in the Greater New Orleans area.

What you do

REFUGEE ADVOCACY:
Meet with clients to assist in acclimating to life in the New Orleans area through the following opportunities:

  1. Conversation Facilitator:  practice speaking English with English language learners
  2. College Youth Mentor:  mentor middle/high school students experiencing bullying, loneliness, or school anxiety
  3. Transportation Orientation:  assist clients in navigating the public transit system
What you learn

Students can increase their cultural humility and gain understanding of the immigrant and refugee experience in the Greater New Orleans area. Service Learners will have an opportunity to practice their language skills and develop intercultural communication skills.
