Boys Hope Girls Hope of Greater New Orleans is a Jesuit-founded academic driven children's home organization that serves academically promising and motivate children in need by providing year-round residence, college-educated staff, access to private, college-preparatory education and the opportunity to pursue their dream of attending and graduating college.
Service learning students will serve as tutors and role models for the students living in our two homes as well as provide guidance for our scholars who aim to be college students similar to the tutors. We are a family-like environment therefore, service-learning students become part of our team to assure our students thrive academically and prepare themselves for college and life.
Students learn that they can positively impact a child's future by being a role model for children wanting to pursue a college education and participate in the process of preparing such students in their adolescent and teenage years. Students also learn that much like themselves a few year earlier, succeeding in school is more than just homework and test taking, it's organization, time management, academic discipline and self-motivation and assist in moving our students through such processes and developing such traits.
